Now that the season is upon us and the flowers, grasses, trees, and shrubs are blooming in our beautiful garden, DCHCF would love to replace the current furniture in the outdoor pavilion. Through generous memorial donations, we have been able to replace several patio chairs and one large oval dining table. Ideally, we would like to replace all of the older worn and dilapidated picnic tables and chairs. Below is a listing of pricing and pieces on our Wish List. Do note that for an extra $75.00 you can add a custom message or engraving on any piece that you purchase. Thank you for helping us beautify our pavilion!

iTunes is currently being used in the recreation therapy department's iPad during resident sessions at the health center and would appreciate iTunes cards in any denomination.
Sponsorship of annual pet care costs for Douglas, our dog that lives in the Cavanaugh Care Center at Douglas County Health Center. As an Eden Alternative registered facility, a key aspect of eliminating the three plagues of aging - loneliness, helplessness, and boredom - includes incorporating plants and animals into the health facility environment.
Sponsorship of our Welcome packets, given to each resident upon their moving in date to the health center. The packet includes notecards, two stamps, a way finding map of health center neighborhoods, a bookmark, and an easy-to-care for plant. To sponsor one Welcome packet, the cost is $15.00 each. Sponsorship of multiple packets is encouraged and appreciated.
Sponsorship of the Comfort Cart. The Comfort Cart is taken to the room of a resident who is nearing the end of their life’s journey. This cart is used to provide some comfort to relatives and friends who are sitting with their loved ones side during their final days. The comfort cart includes items such as a CD player with comforting and inspirational music CDs; a notebook for journaling; a small table lamp; Kleenex; candy, cookies, and crackers; a carafe of hot water to make coffee, tea, hot chocolate or apple cider; and lotion that can be used to massage the hands of their loved one. We also place a rose on the outside of the resident’s door signaling to others in the health center that a friend is on their final journey. This lets other residents know that they might want to stop in and say their goodbyes. When the resident’s final journey is completed, we give an inspirational poem and a white rose to the resident's family. The items on the cart need replacement on an on-going basis: to sponsor Comfort Cart items, the cost is $15.00 per cart. Sponsorship is encouraged and appreciated.
