Foundation Sponsors Two Employees to Attend Pioneer Network 2011 National Conference
In early May, the foundation directors voted to sponsor two Douglas County Health Center employees attendance at the Pioneer Network 2011 National Conference in St. Charles, Missouri. The conference, scheduled for August 1st - 4th, “is a showcase for innovative thought and transformative practices in the long-term care culture change movement”. Our sponsorship includes an all expenses paid journey, meals and conference registration. The employees were chosen through an application process that asked how they felt they would benefit from the conference and if they would be willing to return to the health center and communicate what they’d learned to their peers on staff. You can check out more information on the Pioneer Network Conference here. Congratulations to our two winners!

Atomic Clocks in all Resident Rooms
Last December, an anonymous donation to the foundation of $1,000.00 allowed us to purchase 75 atomic clocks for resident rooms in the health center. In early May, the foundation approved the purchase of an additional 25 clocks in order for each and every room to receive this practical and simple but needed item. Amongst other benefits, the clocks allow residents and employees to follow health and safety guidelines by monitoring the washing of hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, which is very important in all long-term care and assisted living environments.
