About Us
Thank you for your interest in the Douglas County Health Center Foundation (DCHCF). We are a dynamic group of thirteen volunteers who meet monthly to determine how to best fulfill the mission of DCHCF.
In 1994, our foundation was created through a generous donation from Dr. Thomas Magruder III in memory of Thomas G. Magruder, Ann Magruder, and John Albert & Nettie Boom which established nursing scholarship opportunities for employees of the Douglas County Health Center. Our foundation also receives memorial donations, donations in honor of residents currently living at the Health Center, and donations from community members and community foundations.
With every single donation the foundation receives, we strive to make a big impact in the lives of our residents and our employees at the health center. Our most notable success came in 2008 when the foundation completed a capital campaign that raised funds to build the Baright Solariums and Fitness Center for the residents of the Cavanaugh Care Center at the health center. While this is certainly the most obvious foundation success, we very much take pride in all of our successes: the welcome packet that each resident receives when they come to live at the health center; the comfort cart that is available to families when a resident is entering the final stages of life; the creation and installation of the stained glass windows in the health center’s chapel; the outdoor pavilion furniture that is made from recycled milk bottles; the sponsorship of the annual Broasted Chicken Dinner fundraiser each October; the scholarship opportunities for employees; and much, much more.
